Even if it turns out to be useless, I don't see how they would frown on you trying to help.

Red Alert 2 still doesn't seem like the same as GuildWars. Frankly, I wouldn't trust that many people from Guru to police the game. Not to mention, I think that saying you want people to police PvP matches for bots makes it a little unfair to PvE'ers. If you get mods for one half of the game, the other half needs player mods as well.

I'll throw you a bone and say that it would be nice to give some specially picked players the ability to "super report" what they see as potential illegal activity in either PvP or PvE. Reports that are maybe red-flagged for ANet to look at first (and investigate, not just 100% trust their word), since they're coming from trusted player moderators. But I don't think that any power as far as kicking from matches, auto-suspending, etc. should be given to players. Period.

And about us going into space, lol. I can see what you're trying to say, but this is a different matter. We know that we have the physical ability to create player moderators, but do we trust those people who we would assign as moderators? It'd be the same as if we had the technology to go into space, but no one competent enough to be an astronaut.
I get where you`re coming from regarding the difference between hacks and bots, but there`s no need to try figure out how they work, just run a google search for GW Bots and you`ll get a dozen sites come up at least ! 1 Anet dev could download em, study the code and write a bomb for them load up your bot and it automatically disables your game till you contact support asking whats going on, that would be an interesting conversation That however, wouldn`t deal with the serial leeches, syncers

The Mod would oversee the entire game, not just say view it from the Kurzick or Luxon side. Super report is an interesting idea, and actually the first one other than my own that anyones tried to put forward in this. The auto ban mentioned did have the word possibly in front of it, and would be down to Anet if they chose to implement on the software side, not the mod.

Finally......that was a bit harsh on Guru`s staff don`t ya think

Harsh? Not really. :/ Guru is a great forum, but they're by no means 100% professional. I've seen moderators be jerks on this forum before. We're all human. Just because they have moderator status doesn't make them some sort of demigod, bound to an unbreakable rule of honor.

And when I say the entire game, I mean the *entire* game. Farming bots, trade bots, even watching for people who are harassing in local. My main point with that was to include PvE. A lot of PvP'ers tend to forget that a great deal of the game is made up of PvE. If anything like this would ever be implemented, I'd like to see it game-wide, not just in a PvP setting.

And like I said. I think giving players the power to directly and immediately affect other players is a no-no on a game with the player base being so aggressive and downright hostile (like Guild Wars). So my /notsigned for that idea stays. But I will agree that giving a few loyal, responsible, and mature players the ability to "super report" would be a nice touch. Especially later on after GW2 is here, since there probably will be so very few people left to care about what happens in GW1.

Just my 2 cents.

Well the Bot Bomb would take care of the bots game wide and not just in PvP.

Only problem i could see with introducing the ' super report ' game wide is.......just how many players would that need ? When GW2 hits the stands it`s not infeasible it`ll have upwards of 100k players, that`d need a lot of trusted respectable players to be effective, which is why i`m looking at the PvP side of things.

If someone's getting abusive anywhere in game, a quick screenshot and email to support does the job.

Well then, honestly, your ideas aren't going to go very far if they depend on there being == or < a certain number of players. Botting, cheating, scamming, harassment, they're problems that PvE'ers face just as often as PvP'ers. Any action taken to help eliminate this problem should be able to be implemented in all parts of the game that are experiencing it, not just you and your friends. (Don't mean for that to sound quite so mean, but it's just the way things look from my end)

If ANet is going to attempt to oust this issue, they need a solution that will fix all of it.

For all we know, there could already be player mods.
But they are hand picked by ANET staff after months of being monitored and aren't allowed to say whether or not they have the power at risk of being banned. Just like how players that play on the test server aren't allowed to say anything about what is on there.

So I personally see this thread as a waste of time
